Michael O'Driscoll, B.A., B.Sc. (Distinction in Mathematics) is an Associate Faculty Lecturer with the National College of Ireland where he teaches Junior and Leaving Cert Maths as part of the college’s Early Learning Initiative. Based in Dundrum and IFSC. Rate €35/hour. Consistently excellent results - references / contacts available on request. Many, many students are not achieving to their potential at Maths in the Junior and Leaving Cert exams. Often this is due to a failure to grasp the fundamentals of the subject resulting in students suffering a lack of confidence and being 'left behind' in class. To counter this I usually adopt a two-pronged approach of building up the student's grasp of the fundamentals, such as algebra, which is required across the whole subject while, at the same time, imparting the crucial information required to answer individual exam questions. Recent students include one who was repeatedly advised by his teacher to drop to Foundation Level but, after grinds, achieved a C grade at the Junior Cert Ordinary Level; (2) a student who was achieving marks in the 30's and went on to achieve an A2 at the Leaving Cert Ordinary Level; (3) a student who needed some assistance in maximising his mark and achieved an A in the Junior Cert Higher level exam. Tuition is tailored to suit the needs and ability of each individual student. |
